sunday mornings

Children's Moment - a time during 9:30 am Online Worship to celebrate the presence of our children in Worship, and to express in a less formal way an underlying idea from the sermon or an important message for all to hear.

Children's Worship (Returning September 12th, 2021!) - "Kids Worship and Wonder" - activities for children ages Pre-K through 2nd Grade.  Set in a special classroom, kids have the opportunity to learn ad grow in their understanding of God and the importance of worship.

Bible Quest launches September 12th, 2021

Our young people, ages K-5th will start a new program in the traditional Sunday School hour.  We (CE Board and Staff) have been working spring and summer to bring to fruition this version of Workshop Rotation Sunday School Model.  Each month a new Bible Story will be the focus of our attention.  We will read the story weekly, have an activity that enhances the key point of the story and spend our time together growing in our understanding of what the Bible has to say to us as people of faith.  The hallmark of Bible Quest is the designation of specific workshops to accompany the story… to include Burning Bush Studios (Movie Workshop), Fancy Nancy’s Art Studio (Art), Garden of Eatin’ (Cooking), Wise Gals and Guys n Starry Skies (Science and Geography), Parable Players Theater (Drama), Absolutely Aaa-mazing Stories (Storytelling), and Ezekiel’s Wheel of Fortune (Games).

Not every workshop is used in each rotation.  A game rotation may be a nice way to close out the Fall learning period with fun and prizes as we see who learned the Bible stories well during the four-month semester.  Likewise, we might encounter a story where an art or cooking project is not fitting or appropriate.  Hence the variety of offerings.

This Fall, we will be looking at The Creation Story, Joseph, Moses and the Birth of Jesus.  Mark August 29th for a walk through of workshop rooms and spaces. [Walk through is for everyone immediately following the 9:30am service.  Grab coffee and come on over to CE Building]

mid-school donut run

(Returning August 31st, 2021!)

"Donuts are a very healthy part of a balanced. . ." um, "a donut a day helps. . ." scratch that train of thought.  Who isn't fond of a donut or two on an early school morning?  Toss in the opportunity to sit with church friends, laugh and relax before school starts and you have a recipe for a good day at the Mid School.  Donut Run begins with young people climbing in the church van at 7am in White Rock and coming up the hill to meet the LA crew at Morning Glory Donuts at 7:20am.  We take over the dining room briefly with our bunch as we scarf about three dozen donuts and then hop into the church van for the ride to the Mid School.

High School Lunch

(Sketchy lunch)

(returning august 19th, 2021)

Life in High School can be a bit challenging at times.  It never hurts to see a friendly face and share a quick bite to eat.  The goal of lunch on campus is simple. . . for me to be able to "check-in" with our kids and see how they are doing.  If I am able to see them at church, out in the community, and on campus for lunch from time to time it allows me to build a friendly relationship that allows for honest conversation.  Pizza (food in general) never hurts either.  Lunch is taken to LAHS every Thursday at the Morning Glory Bakery parking lot.
